Dye manufacturing industry is very large industry and make our world colorful. On other hand it generate water pollution , air pollution and hazardous waste.
This industry generates wastewater with high COD BOD ratio with color and high TDS. it is consider as one of the very difficult wastewater to treat.
In general wastewater treatment plants in dye manufacturing industry consists of bar screen , oil and grease trap , equalization tank , neutralizing tank, flocculation, primary settling tank, Activated carbon adsorption etc.
Here now as per our experience we suggest following treatment.
1st treatment
Screening, as in all industry first treatment is screening it falls in primary treatment category it removes large particle or substance from wastewater stream. Helps in protect machinery and equipment from damage and chalking of pipeline.
2nd treatment
Oil and grease trap it helps in remove oily and grease pollutants from the stream. It helps in chalking of pumps and pipelines also up to some extant reduce pollution load.
3rd treatment
Equalization is third treatment in my view it is not treatment but it make wastewater treatment easy by making wastewater characteristic uniform.
4th treatment
coagulation Flocculation is fourth treatment . There is various floc agents use for this treatment in various combination like;
1) Lime -Ferrous
2) Lime- PAC
3) NaOH-Ferrous
4) Lime-FeCl3
5)NaOH-PAC-FeCl3
all this combination gives different result in COD reduction
1) Lime- Ferrous : COD 40%, TDS 40%, NH3 80%
2) Lime –PAC : COD 35%, TDS 45%, NH3 80%
3) NAOH-Ferrous : COD 45%, TDS 30.%, NH3 85%
4) Lime-Fecl3 : COD 47% TDS 57%, NH3 95%
5)NAOH-PAC-Fecl3 : COD 70.00% TDS 65.%, NH3 95%
5th treatment
Aeration after chemical treatment extensive aeration is provided for more than 24 hrs it reduce COD 20 to 25% and Ammonia 65 to 70 percentage
6th treatment
Charcoal or activated carbon filtration is use to improve quality it reduce COD further 20 to 25 percent. also remove color
