Bharuch district known industrial hub . Also famous for pollution. Ankleshwar GIDC remain critical zone for several years and after long waiting came out from critical zone list. But still mentality of industries not changed this monsoon colored water found in Narmada river clearly indicating industries discharging untreated wastewater in stream taking advantage of rain water. Even Hazardous solid waste dumps in barren land of near by village. GPCB works hard to control this issues of illegal disposals of hazardous waste, industrial effluent. I personally thing GPCB has provide more man power, monitoring equipment and facility for real time monitoring. Today GPCB issues show cause notice to nearly 30 industry. in Ankleshwer area this shows that industry still not taking care of environment and risks local resident of area. It may lead to some serious environmental issue or accident like Bhopal in area. Ground water quality of area constantly deteriorating,same with air quality also.

I never understand how environmental law agencies give clearance to projects like Sardar Sarovar which disturb ecology of area, we see China facing problems because of large dams .

I think in next 5 to 10 yrs Bharuch, district will be most polluted area and it will like Punjab once known for agriculture now known for Cancer because of heavy use of pesticides and chemical fertilizer.

So, unbalance development of chemical industries lead to socio-economy as well as environmental problems in region
